I read this because of my weakness for the falling for the sister s BFF trope This is a well written book Excellent characterizations that went deeper than what I would normally find in a category romance Good humor that doesn t come across as forced I liked the realistic depictions of family and family ties HoweverI can understand why this novel has a so so rating here on GR I feel almost guilty that I am not rating this higher but ultimately there was too much focus on the secon I read this because of my weakness for the falling for the sister s BFF trope This is a well written book Excellent characterizations that went deeper than what I would normally find in a category romance Good humor that doesn t come across as forced I liked the realistic depictions of family and family ties HoweverI can understand why this novel has a so so rating here on GR I feel almost guilty that I am not rating this higher but ultimately there was too much focus on the secondary romance, the hero s George Bailey esque life decision, family interferences and not enough on the primary romance Since I read these Harlequins for the r o m a n c e, I wasn t ultimately satisfied.3.5 StarsSensuality level kisses only and one rolling around on the floor

Normally I really enjoy books by Abby Gaines but ugghh this one I seriously disliked and it was a pain reading it, I just wanted to kick all the characters Trey, Sadie, Meg, Daniel everyone.Honestly, Sadie just seemed pathetic to me, the way she made eyes at Daniel Trey was unremarkable and Meg irresponsible Sadie sees Daniel first and instead of telling Meg she likes him she lets them date and then thinks it will be over soon and I will pick up the pieces What great friends these two are T Normally I really enjoy books by Abby Gaines but ugghh this one I seriously disliked and it was a pain reading it, I just wanted to kick all the characters Trey, Sadie, Meg, Daniel everyone.Honestly, Sadie just seemed pathetic to me, the way she made eyes at Daniel Trey was unremarkable and Meg irresponsible Sadie sees Daniel first and instead of telling Meg she likes him she lets them date and then thinks it will be over soon and I will pick up the pieces What great friends these two are Trey is the poor brother who had to leave his dreams to support his mom and Meg.Not my cup of tea that s all.But Abby Gaines is a seriously good author, only this one is a miss for me and I will be reading anything else she puts out

2.5 stars Because it was kind of a cute book But for me there was serious issues with the writing style sometimes, I felt the book had potentials and could ve been better I liked Sadie, I mean she s fun, she s sassy and other than her being hang up over Daniel she was a great characterI hated Meg, welllike her personality at first She seemed so selfish and like she really only cared about herself But at the end I just felt indifferent towards her.And Daniel He confused th 2.5 stars Because it was kind of a cute book But for me there was serious issues with the writing style sometimes, I felt the book had potentials and could ve been better I liked Sadie, I mean she s fun, she s sassy and other than her being hang up over Daniel she was a great characterI hated Meg, welllike her personality at first She seemed so selfish and like she really only cared about herself But at the end I just felt indifferent towards her.And Daniel He confused the shit out of me I mean he s in love with meg and still checks Sadie out And gets jealous over her being with other guys Oh, Come on Make up your damn mind

i went on to pick up this book reading the synopsis at the rear side, like everyone else does the story line seemed to be really catchy thought i would give it a try the story revolves around a girl called sadie who is exceptionally intelligent she has been socially outcast because of her geek status ever since school but she doesn t mind it except when she doesn t get a partner to dance with in the town she finds her best friend in Meg her school time buddy Meg is bang opposite in natur i went on to pick up this book reading the synopsis at the rear side, like everyone else does the story line seemed to be really catchy thought i would give it a try the story revolves around a girl called sadie who is exceptionally intelligent she has been socially outcast because of her geek status ever since school but she doesn t mind it except when she doesn t get a partner to dance with in the town she finds her best friend in Meg her school time buddy Meg is bang opposite in nature to sadie she is a school time hottie and believed to have the power of having any guy to herself if she wanted they grow up to share a house together sadie becomes a botanist and Meg, no surprise grows up to be a flight attendant Sadie loves Meg a lot and is always loyal to her until when Meg decides to marry the guy Sadie believes she is in love with this is where the drama starts the bride s brother comes into the picture and is determined to keep away Sadie from harming his sister s wedding.the story is REALLY SLOW in the beginning not so powerful lead characters are combined with some really lame situations when the story gets interesting the book is already over Meg is the character which keeps you alive throughout the book.overall the book is not the best of Abby gains i would give it 2 2.5 stars

It is true that you might find characters in this book somewhat irritating, but I think this is what real people are like, what they do, how they behave.Nobody is perfect and jealousy is pretty common feeling Not very noble, but real.I don t mind the lack of a realism in books particularly in romances and honestly I don t look for a realism, but somehow in this book to find a bit of imperfection of the real world was curiously refreshing so I got over my initial irritation and ended up liking It is true that you might find characters in this book somewhat irritating, but I think this is what real people are like, what they do, how they behave.Nobody is perfect and jealousy is pretty common feeling Not very noble, but real.I don t mind the lack of a realism in books particularly in romances and honestly I don t look for a realism, but somehow in this book to find a bit of imperfection of the real world was curiously refreshing so I got over my initial irritation and ended up liking this story a lot

This is maybe 2.5 stars rounded up I liked the characters and their conflicts even though there was so much going on including a substantial secondary romance that nothing was fully developed and it all had to wrap up super fast There is a scene set in the Confederacy Inn, a location I found jarring and once I d read that, I couldn t stop noticing that this book is ostensibly set in Memphis but the cast is lily white.

  9. says:

Gaines writes very light Superromances that usually have some unconventional elements and almost always closed door sex or none at all I enjoy her stories as I read them, but they re usually not very notable. This, though Very many situations kind of ticked me off And a certain conflict disappointingly had no closure Too bad, so sad.

  10. says:

the book is actually good and kept me on my toes i kept reading the next page to see what happens next but the author dragged the matter too long, upto the end so dat i found it impossible to believe dat sadie had fallen for trey she just relised it suddenly makes no sense, as she s been pining for daniel all throughout the book
