OkayI m calling it at 39%Clicking around on GR I came across this book I was so excited because it looked different and had some really good reviews Unfortunately, it didn t work as well for me as I hoped But please don t let this stop you from reading this book Maybe I shouldn t have read it right after a 5 star read where I could really see how the mc s loved and cared for each other But here, there were just things that didn t work for me that may not bother other people. Here s why T OkayI m calling it at 39%Clicking around on GR I came across this book I was so excited because it looked different and had some really good reviews Unfortunately, it didn t work as well for me as I hoped But please don t let this stop you from reading this book Maybe I shouldn t have read it right after a 5 star read where I could really see how the mc s loved and cared for each other But here, there were just things that didn t work for me that may not bother other people. Here s why There s a dead ex I knew this going in based on other reviews What I didn t know or didn t care for was how Andrew continued to think about Cara and feel guilty for having a relationship with Nicholas so soon after her death Yes, they begin to put things back together just months after But 5 years down the road and he is STILL feeling guilty Apparently, it didn t matter that he was in a relationship with Nicholas way before Cara He didn t seem to harbor any guilt over being with her while Nicholas wasn t around I never really felt Andrew and Nicholas actually loved each other Oh they have great chemistry and sexual tension They seemed to pick up right back where they left off years ago But they constantly seemed to never show a loving side towards each other They certainly did to Jacob so I know they were capable But I just never really felt the romance portion between them I don t know about anybody else, but if I read a romance book, I want actual romance and I just didn t feel it here This was pretty much the icing on the cake for me Andrew is jealous that Jacob wanted to call Nicholas his dad too When I read stories where there are kids involved, one of the things I love the most are when the kid calls the new person mommy or daddy.daddy in this case I was really looking forward to them becoming a true family in this sense I really didn t like that Andrew had issues with it He knew Nicholas loved Jacob and took care of him as if he was his own He should have been happy that Jacob wanted that connection with Nicholas too But it seemed all he was good for was being a glorified babysitter and wasn t worthy of the title dad There s really not much in the way of demons or vampires Take that out, and this could have just been about two men getting back together after a few years of separation I didn t necessarily need a bunch of action, but we are told numerous times of nightly hunts, injuries, fights etc but we don t get to see any of it.Now not to say everything was bad with this There were a few things that I liked I absolutely adored when we got Jacob s POV This was one of the things that caught my attention with this book that we get a child s perspective at different times I liked the writing Even if nothing really happens so far, it kept me engaged I just got tired of the lack of romance and then Andrew being jealous just turned me off and I lost interest after that.As I said, I stopped at 39% I have no idea how things went from there I would definitely encourage others to read this for themselves and make up their own mind There were many who have enjoyed it and didn t have the issues I had

How sweet can be a paranormal story with a baby Very very sweet Andrew is vampire, the owner of a Special Task Force against demons, and most of all, Andrew is a widower The story begin is the saddest and happiest moment of his life The birth of his son, and the lost of his wife When I read those first pages I was already thinking it was a big mistake I was searching for a light book something to distract me from the hardness of real life Well, it took onlyfew pages and e How sweet can be a paranormal story with a baby Very very sweet Andrew is vampire, the owner of a Special Task Force against demons, and most of all, Andrew is a widower The story begin is the saddest and happiest moment of his life The birth of his son, and the lost of his wife When I read those first pages I was already thinking it was a big mistake I was searching for a light book something to distract me from the hardness of real life Well, it took onlyfew pages and everything changes Nicholas Nick appears in the story.Nicholas is the funniest character After almost a century away from his Sire he is accepted again in his house I got some problems with the concept Nicholas was a killer explained as he kill only humans that was blood donors to vampires, but in my view it s always a murder no But well, ignoring it I love Nicholas He is funny, and he is the best partner Andrew could find to help him to raise Jacob.Jacob was the best surprise of the book He will be the narrator at the age of two And OMG that was SO DAMN CUTE I love his voice, and his innocence was so unexpected I mean, it s so hard to do it A writer able to create an infant as main character, and write his POV Amazing. I love it and certainly was a very sweet surprise I was not expecting a child as narrator, so I was really surprised I loved the light theme, two suborn but in love men trying to do the best they can to make a child happy and feel loved I adored the drama too And most of all, I was exultant with Jacob first person narration You will read Jacob voice, from 2 to 17 years old, and that was really amazing I liked it a lot My only two criticisms are The rush. The start is in a normal pace and then the writer started to jump a lot of years I missdetails, but I must admit it would be a lot, to one already long but delightful story The lack of paragraphs marks when the narrator or scene change I got confused, than one time The narrators can be everyone from the book, and I think I would be less confused if there was some paragraphs marks to help me to get when the POV changed And also the scenes The worst part was after a sex scene there is some explicit sex parts, all very good and I liked all the writer change to Jacob talking and I really got scared I took something like 2 lines understand the scene was another and thanks GOD Jacob was not there with his father and Nicholas I went on, still thinking how gross that could be I think some easy and very great things to tell the reader the POV will change are orskip a line, starting a new paragraph AWAAAAAAAAAAY from the sex, if the kid will be the narratorAnything Anything that would show when the POV changed, to avoid such possible gross mental image forever printed in my brain But guys, English is not my first language maybe it s only me, and no other reader would be so confused all the time, trying to understand who is the narrator. So 4 stars,I ll certainly readof this serie the end is not definitive I can t wait to read

I know, that was a low blow, having a small baby on the cover trying to attract unaware women with the strong power of their maternal instinct problem is that, I m not really a motherly type, and in any case I fell for the trick But the cover, the blurb, a mix of both pushed me not only to buy the book but also to read it as soon as I downloaded the file Fangs Lullabies is everything cover and blurb promised, a story about two unlikely fathers, not only since there is now woman around to pl I know, that was a low blow, having a small baby on the cover trying to attract unaware women with the strong power of their maternal instinct problem is that, I m not really a motherly type, and in any case I fell for the trick But the cover, the blurb, a mix of both pushed me not only to buy the book but also to read it as soon as I downloaded the file Fangs Lullabies is everything cover and blurb promised, a story about two unlikely fathers, not only since there is now woman around to play the role of the mother, but also since they are vampires Andrew is the older and wiser and he is also the one who chase away Nicholas when he started to feed and kill humans That was almost 100 years ago and in the meantime Andrew built another life, and other relationships, the last of which with a woman, Cara, the mother of his son Jacob Jacob is a little miracle himself, vampires cannot father children, but Cara was a specialist in the fertility field and she found a way problem is that, after 19 years of relationship, she was probably not so young any and the pregnancy was also her death sentence She died in childbirth and Andrew was left alone with a little baby to rise When Nicholas comes back, he doesn t know about Jacob he is not coming back to help Andrew, he is coming back since he cannot live nowithout Andrew Andrew is Nicholas s sire, and Nicholas feels the pull every childe has towards his sire It s strange but all the paranormal side of the story, Nicholas and Andrew being vampires, how one is a sire and the other a childe, how their life was before, the fact that they are centuries years old, everything seems to disappear when Jacob enters their life from that moment on, they are only two fathers, rising a baby alone, not being ready to do so, and probably, if they have to be true to themselves, not planning to do that After the prologue, where the author plans out all the details for the story, and give the readers the necessary paranormal elements, the novel takes a very precise pace, that of Jacob s life every chapter is a year in Jacob s life, from 1 to 17 years old Sometime the story is even told from Jacob s point of view, who, like any other baby in the world, looks at his father, Andrew, like an hero, and so it s not strange for him that he is out, fighting the bad guys But again, Andrew s job as demon hunter, everything happening outside their home, remains exactly there, outside I think the author did a good job in making the story believable and yes, even with Andrew and Nicholas being vampires without making nor Andrew or Nicholas the wife Nicholas is indeed the one who isat home, taking care of Jacob and effectively being the one raising him, but always waiting for Andrew to come back home and taking the important decisions of course also planning everything to be sure that decisions matched the one Nicholas already took

Two Vampires and a Baby sounds like the beginning to a joke, right This is what author Kallysten has written about in this book Fangs Lullabies which is book one in the series The Demon Age The vampires in this story are Andrew who is Sire to Nicholas When the story begins we meet Andrew with his human girlfriend, Cara, of twenty years as she is giving birth to their son, Jacob Cara doesn t survive long into the story, leaving Jacob who she conceived using advanced science and magic, Two Vampires and a Baby sounds like the beginning to a joke, right This is what author Kallysten has written about in this book Fangs Lullabies which is book one in the series The Demon Age The vampires in this story are Andrew who is Sire to Nicholas When the story begins we meet Andrew with his human girlfriend, Cara, of twenty years as she is giving birth to their son, Jacob Cara doesn t survive long into the story, leaving Jacob who she conceived using advanced science and magic, with Andrew Not long after, Nicholas shows up on his Sire s doorstep vowing he has changed his ways and has returned to his sire When Nicholas finds out about Jacob he steps up to help his Sire raise the motherless child This story goes through the life of Jacob each chapter a different year as he is growing up and showing different things that Andrew, Nicholas, and Jacob dealt with as a blended family I say blended because this story takes place in a world where Vampires are known by humans yet not allowed to raise a child, as if anyone would ever believe a vampire could sire a human child No theythan likely would have accused and killed Andrew Nicholas for kidnapping a human baby Needless to say this was one secret they all worked to hide As Jacob got older and traits of his vampire genetics started appearing such as super strength, speed, fast healing and excellent hearing, Andrew Nicholas taught Jacob how to hide these traits and blend in with the human kids They were able to hide their family dynamics until Jacob becomes a teenager and falls in love, sharing his families secret with his girlfriend At that point Andrew has to decide whether to use magic or enthralling the girl to make her forget or to take a chance and let the girl in to their inner circle I enjoyed this story and watching the years go by the way the author wrote them I really loved how the author rotated the view points throughout each chapter so the reader got an in depth look at how each character felt There were some parts of this story that had me laughing and some parts that made me chest hurt with those good ol Feelz I look forward to the next story in the series and wonder if we will see Andrew, Nicholas, and Jacob again I can t help but wonder if Jacob would want to be turned as he gets older and starts to understand mortalityand how his two Dad s would have dealt with that I also would have loved to see poor Andrew deal with Jacob going off to college, getting married, having kids The story ends with Jacob age 17, so hopefully we will get to see4 stars

This isn t a story about two guys falling in love, apparently that all happened a 100 years beforehand It isn t even a story about their getting back together, because that takes all of 5 pages Really this is just a slice of life story, granted a vampire life, that takes place over 17 years 4.5 Stars in the end I think.Andrew has spent almost 20 years with Cara and he couldn t deny her her one wish, to have a child with him It shouldn t have been possible, he was a vampire after all, but Car This isn t a story about two guys falling in love, apparently that all happened a 100 years 4.5 Stars in the end I think.Andrew has spent almost 20 years with Cara and he couldn t deny her her one wish, to have a child with him It shouldn t have been possible, he was a vampire after all, but Cara was incredible, a genius, and wouldn t take no for an answer Years of work, most likely a little magic, and a littlethan 8 months of pregnancy later Andrew has a son of his own flesh and blood, but at the expensive of Cara She never even got to see the boy she d fought so hard to bring into this world Andrew s whole life has one purpose now, his son, Jacob.Nicholas was made a vampire almost 100 years previously when he finally convinced his lover that it was what he wanted When he couldn t stop himself from killing his donors though his Sire threw him out Andrew told him he would always welcome him back though if he could stop killing That was almost 80 years ago Now Nicholas hasn t taken a life in almost 3 years and he wants to come home Nothing mattersto him than getting back in Andrew s good graces Granted he never expected Andrew to have remained celibate all this time, Nick sure didn t expect him to have a son.First things first, I loved these three characters I really enjoyed seeing Jacob grow up and become a handsome, intelligent young man He was such an adorable kid and Nick and Andrew were the perfect balance of over protective and yet doting parents Every time Andrew got too uptight and stingy Nick was there to get him to loosen the reins a bit, and every time Nick was all set to let Jacob do something totally crazy Andrew was there to reel him back in These two were they type of parents every kid wishes they could have, understanding, fair, and yet not too lenient even if every kid doesn t know that s what they should want in a parent Kids need boundaries and Jacob had that with all the love in the world to let him grow up and experience everything they way he should. Now I wish certain things were exploredThe Special Enforcers job that Andrew and Nick on occasion do, well I would have liked to see a little bitof how this affected them personally We re told that they ve gone out and we see the results, but everything that goes on in this book is focused on what happens within the four walls of that mansion I would have liked to seetime spent on the relationship between Andrew and Nick and not just on how it relates to Jacob Also I would have liked to have seenexplanation and exploration of what exactly it means for Jacob to be so different Clearly he has some vampire powers to some extent, but he s human What is all of this going to mean for him going forward As a little kid it would have been fun to see him accidently doing a fewcrazy things because of them He was a little too well behaved at times Kids make mistakes and for the sake of the novel he could have made them at home and not ended up outing them all to the world. Now, I ABSOLUTELY ADORED the section where Nick and Andy got turned into 5 year olds Oh my god they were the sweetest, most adorable, little pests ever There is actually a really good balance in this book of seeing things from all the characters perspectives, Jacob s included You never questioned whose head you were in, but also you never questioned what age they were either Both with Jacob when he was younger, and here with Nick and Andy, you really got the sense for their actual age I really enjoyed that aspect of this writing I think my biggest complaint with this book is that it just ends Really abruptly Nothing really happens anywhere It s a coming of age story for Jacob, but nothing changes, there s no real major event anywhere There s a hint of one with Andrew and Nicholas final discussion, but view spoiler I would have liked for just this once them both to FINALLY be able to say what they think and feel I know these two just don t do that, but I would have liked to hear Andrew really say the words and tell Nicholas that Jacob is his son too, that he loves him hide spoiler I think if the words had actually been spoken that specifically and not just hinted around I would have felt a littleclosure to this book We ve gone the whole novel without things being said, just hinted around, to close the book with the actual words would have felt like somehow there was growth and thus it was ok that we were leaving this family All in all though I enjoyed my read because these characters were such fun I liked this family and I want to know where they end up I want to knowabout how this all makes Jacob so different and if he does go into Enforcer training I want to see Andrew and Nicholas tear down a fewwalls between them and what will happen with Jacob is out of the house My issues here were minor really I just wanted that little extra dollop of whip cream on my cake
