3.5 I love Beauty and The Beast, so when I saw this version..I jumped on it.It is a sweet take on the fairytale, Beau having been rescued by Beast from a brutal attack, and brought back to his secluded house to recover We find out very little of Beau s backstory, only that he is a talented artist living hand to mouth, Jeanne Marie has a bitof a history. My only real complaint was the love felt so rushed, I realize that is sometimes the case with a short, and I can understand Beau s gra 3.5 I love Beauty and The Beast, so when I saw this version..I jumped on it.It is a sweet take on the fairytale, Beau having been rescued by Beast from a brutal attack, and brought back to his secluded house to recover We find out very little of Beau s backstory, only that he is a talented artist living hand to mouth, Jeanne Marie has a bitof a history. My only real complaint was the love felt so rushed, I realize that is sometimes the case with a short, and I can understand Beau s gratefulness and the Beast s generosity causing him to fall for him quickly and of course Jeanne Marie has been starved for love and affection, but in the day or two they were together it was hard for me to feel the bond between them I would have loved them to spendtime together and sharingmundane tasks and see the growing friendship, or maybe Jeanne Marie realizing his mistake a little late and having to work harder to find and get Beau back

Very touching, written with a clear understanding of the essence of the original story, yet adding an undeniably modern flair to it, this rendition of Beauty and the Beast is probably my favorite ever The characters are completely contemporary, as is the situation But the timeless magic of a man who has suffered physical disfigurement in his face, resulting in unbearable loneliness, finding love weaves through every sentence of this version of the story.Beau is a poor artist, struggling to m Very touching, written with a clear understanding of the essence of the original story, yet adding an undeniably modern flair to it, this rendition of Beauty and the Beast is probably my favorite ever The characters are completely contemporary, as is the situation But the timeless magic of a man who has suffered physical disfigurement in his face, resulting in unbearable loneliness, finding love weaves through every sentence of this version of the story.Beau is a poor artist, struggling to make a living, but happy to be free He is very good at seeing the heart of things , and it is a talent that will serve him well He is beaten up and left for dead, then rescued by an enigmatic stranger I loved the description of his awakening, the slow realization of what happened, and his determination to find outabout his savior Beau is a really good guy, and determined to communicate this to the man who took him in Beast , as the rescuer asks to be called, has gone through unimaginable trauma He isn t exactly bitter, and makes the best of a very solitary life, but he has lost faith in the rest of humanity treating him with dignity or respect In his experience, they cannot deal with the way he looks Jeanne Marie, in the way of so many people who are different from the norm, has grown to see himself the way the uncaring majority would describe him as a beast He has lost the ability to see himself as the person he really is, replacing it with the label given to him by others It takes Beau and his ability to look beyond someone s exterior appearance to change that It is a truly miraculous transformation, and I love the careful steps both Beau and Jeanne Marie take in their dance to get to know and love each other It is a bit of move forward then retreat , but each time they come together it is a little closer And in the final happy ending they no longer move away from each other at all Absolutely heartwarming And in a touching gesture, the beast is named Jeanne Marie, after the author of the original story that was a wonderful touch If you like stories that really are fairy tales set in today s world, if you enjoy characters with deep emotions and some real obstacles to overcome, and if you re looking for a short, uplifting tale, this is one you should give a go I can truly recommend it.NOTE This book was provided by Amber Allure for the purpose of a review on Rainbow Book Reviews

I did like this story It is a nice comforting read It is comforting because most of us are familiar with the story of Beauty and the Beast I really like fairy tales and so I very much enjoyed this re telling This short story is just right for a wintry or rainy afternoon, or a cold evening It is short, sweet and whatcould I want on a cold November afternoon on my birthday. The story that Rick has given us is picturesque story with a strong sense of place Seattle So although it is a f I did like this story It is a nice comforting read It is comforting because most of us are familiar with the story of Beauty and the Beast I really like fairy tales and so I very much enjoyed this re telling This short story is just right for a wintry or rainy afternoon, or a cold evening It is short, sweet and whatcould I want on a cold November afternoon on my birthday. The story that Rick has given us is picturesque story with a strong sense of place Seattle So although it is a fairy tale it has a very contemporary setting There are several things I enjoyed about this story I liked the way the story portrays Beau as a starving artist and the effect of the attack on him I am glad that we were not immediately subjected to the horrors of the attack but instead we are given a description of the attack much later and through the eyes of Beast The appearance of the Beast with all the surroundings of plush decor and yet no mirrors in his home draws us further into the story and so the fairy tale plays out, bringing both the familiar elements of the fairy tale and the unfamiliar elements of Rick s telling and holding them together This is a romantic story but a fairy tale so there are no long sex scenes which is refreshing This is also a story of healing, wounded herosim and acceptance Beau needs to heal from his attack but Beast also has to heal from the pains of his past scars and perhapsdeeply The part when Beast reveals his past was the most gripping part for me because it shows how he came to be scarred both visibly and invisibly By helping Beau, Beast receives his own healing, acceptance and love in return The best bit was the ending I had a big smile on my face at the end and that is why I gave it five stars because it is a neat story that will make me smile whenever I think about it Just the right amount of tension and touch of angst at the end and then yay A lovely HEA It was just right It would have been even better with violins I must admit that I do like stories with wounded or scarred heroes and I like a HEA I got both here This is of course a fairytale and so things work out easily and love is easily found A nice story to fill a grey afternoon I thoroughly enjoyed it

I think, the biggest problem of this story is its lenth it s short It s shorter, than it needs to things going smoothly and properly The first part of the book is 5 star worth, nice characters, descriptions I felt emotionally involved into Beau s young homeless artist story But as soon as I was prepared to read about him falling in love with Beast, about Beast, step by step revealing his inner scars They just slam crushed into passion The chemistry between them definitely took place, I think, the biggest problem of this story is its lenth it s short It s shorter, than it needs to things going smoothly and properly The first part of the book is 5 star worth, nice characters, descriptions I felt emotionally involved into Beau s young homeless artist story But as soon as I was prepared to read about him falling in love with Beast, about Beast, step by step revealing his inner scars They just slam crushed into passion The chemistry between them definitely took place, but even sudden passion needs to be prepared. But I really enjoyed this well written story, so I m giving Mr Reed another chance picking uphis books.P.S I must confess, I m really in love with that strong Beauty and the Beast connections in this story They are not to be discovered with the first sight Characters names are Beau short to his given name, but also it s short to beautiful and also it s a French word for English beauty and Jeanne Marie, that s the name of the original author of Beauty and the Beast tale Jeanne Marie Le Prince de Beaumont Oh, WISH this story to be longer
