This book was provided to me as a free e book It was interesting to get back to the Malone family and particularly Talia, who had left home at sixteen and pregnant She knew she couldn t raise the child, wanted it to have a better life than she had, so she let the child be adopted Now 10 years later, with her own life improving, she finds herself back in San Racquel looking for a place to use her collage project as a way to help troubled teens, and wondering about the son she had given birth t This book was provided to me as a free e book It was interesting to get back to the Malone family and particularly Talia, who had left home at sixteen and pregnant She knew she couldn t raise the child, wanted it to have a better life than she had, so she let the child be adopted Now 10 years later, with her own life improving, she finds herself back in San Racquel looking for a place to use her collage project as a way to help troubled teens, and wondering about the son she had given birth to.The school she found herself in, was not a high school, but rather an elementary school where she would be in the sixth grade art class to watch and to try out her collage project While waiting for class to start, she observed a young man being escorted to the principal s office, who was definitely troubled, defiant and declaring he didn t care he was being taken to the office again.Talia realizes that this 10 year old boy is her son, and while she wants to acknowledge that, realizes that she cannot Kent s adoptive Mother was killed in an accident 2 years earlier, and Sherman, his adoptive Father, was raising him alone Talia also realizes that she made the right decision 10 years earlier, but she wants to help him if she can.Kent and Talia develop a relationship and it is harder and harder not to tell him that she is his biological mother It is also harder not to share this secret because she finds herself falling in love with Kent s father and she thinks he is falling for her, too.The reasoning and logic Talia goes through, while wanting the best for her son, tugs at the heart strings and at the same time makes you want to shake some sense into her As for Sherman, he wants Kent back to himself, the way he was before the accident He recognizes that Kent and Talia have a special relationship and despite every obstacle, he knows in his heart that he loves her. While the ending is predictable, this book explores the depth of a mother s love, even though she never mothered Kent It illustrates the pain and desire Talia feels as she wrestles with telling Sherman the truth about her past This book is a good read and makes you want to peek in on this family in another 5 years or so

This was an amazing book The two main characters, Talia and Sherman, both have secrets that they have kept for a long time These secrets revolve around their son, Kent Kent is Talia s biological son that she gave up for adoption, and Sherman is the man who, along with his now deceased wife, adopted Kent The complexities of their backgrounds kept me turning the pages I won t tell any, for fear of spoilers, but I highly recommend this book as a great read

I have always liked stories in which the hero or heroine made bad choices in their youth and then turned their life around and made something fabulous with it Tara did not disappoint The characters were engaging and believable Many years ago, I interviewed abused women who got out and went on to be the incredible women they are today Those were real people living out real horror Ms Quinn did an exceptional job with this book Kudos.

Kind of a jerkThe overall plot and writing were good I thought the hero was kind of a jerk for the way he treated the heroine even though he did get his act together in the end.
