    This book was masterfully put together The language was like a page from Dickens, the plot an amazing tribute to him Though the cover is absolutely GORGEOUS, I must admit the book was so much deeper, so muchthought provoking than the cover made me think Yes, there was romance and I enjoyed it , but really, this book is so muchthan that It is a lesson, or I should say lessons, on the consequences of greed and selfishness, honesty and kindness There are a full spectrum of charact This book was masterfully put together The language was like a page from Dickens, the plot an amazing tribute to him Though the cover is absolutely GORGEOUS, I must admit the book was so much deeper, so muchthought provoking than the cover made me think Yes, there was romance and I enjoyed it , but really, this book is so muchthan that It is a lesson, or I should say lessons, on the consequences of greed and selfishness, honesty and kindness There are a full spectrum of characters some perfectly loveable, others completely disgusting, and many in between I look forward to readingfrom Murphy

    When the Marchant children find themselves destitute, and the victims of a malicious step mother, they run away to support themselves in a dark Dickens like world of poverty on the streets of London One of them will succumb to the temptation of crime, which carries a heavy toll, the other will be manipulated and used by those whose greed seeks a valuable stone I found myself immersed in this grimy world where integrity was a rare commodity, but as Sarah is confronted with insurmountable odds, When the Marchant children find themselves destitute, and the victims of a malicious step mother, they run away to support themselves in a dark Dickens like world of poverty on the streets of London One of them will succumb to the temptation of crime, which carries a heavy toll, the other will be manipulated and used by those whose greed seeks a valuable stone I found myself immersed in this grimy world where integrity was a rare commodity, but as Sarah is confronted with insurmountable odds, she finds that her integrity is all she has left The ending was perfect By the time I read it, I thoroughly agreed with Sarah s decision Highly recommend this book something I rarely do

    I enjoyed this book so much that I read it all in one night, finishing at 5 00 AM My favorite part was her excellent use of dialogue It really gave insight to the characters and the usage let me know who was ton and who not.Murphy did her research Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres and this one is a masterpiece.This is my favorite of Murphy s books.

    I should make it clear that the plot was 5 stars Murder, mystery, the drudges of London to the high end rooms.it was truly a great plot.However, the writing went so fast There was usually only a sentence or two to explain a huge plot event in the book, and very rarely did you know how the characters felt.

    Completely unique and a great tribute to Dickens I loved the setting and characters, but did get lost in some of the details.
